Take a Break For Lunch, Disney-style

If you’re looking for a mid-day escape at Walt Disney World® Resort, here are some great lunchtime options away from the theme parks:

Kona Café at the Disney’s Polynesian Resort, just a monorail or boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom® Park, for Pan Asian food overlooking the lobby’s tropical profusion. Try the traditional Hawaiian plate lunch with your choice of pan-fried chicken or teriyaki steak served with sticky rice and pasta salad, or the brothy Asian noodle bowl.

Whispering Canyon Cafe at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, a boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom, for a pulled pork sandwich or Kansas City-style, slow-smoked pork ribs. At lunchtime, the hootin’ and hollerin’ are at a minimum.

The Wave at the Disney’s Contemporary Resort, only one monorail stop away from the Magic Kingdom, where healthy, whole grain options and a relaxed atmosphere are on the menu. Choose the fresh, sustainable fish on a bed of luscious edamame stew, or r a healthy bison burger with salsa verde on a multi-grain bun.

Grand Floridian Café, a boat or monorail ride from the Magic Kingdom for super salads and oversize sandwiches, not to mention a chance to check out Disney’s flagship resort. If you’re not dieting, try the Grand Sandwich, an open-faced hot turkey and ham wonder topped with rich Boursin cheese sauce and fried onion straws.

Fulton’s Crab House at Downtown Disney®, where fresh seafood is served in a docked Mississippi riverboat. Good choices include lobster corn dogs, a lump crab club BLT sandwich, or a cold seafood platter with Alaska king crab legs, Maine lobster, shrimp, and Apalachicola Bay oysters served with cocktail and remoulade sauces.

T-Rex Cafe at Downtown Disney for roaring dinosaurs, Ice Cave dining, and a fantastic, fun atmosphere that can’t be beat. Try the tomato basil soup followed by yummy tribal fish tacos.
